Welcome and thank you for stopping by my home away from home! I’ll begin by confessing that storytelling has always been a part of my life. As a young girl, my father would sit me down on Saturday mornings and tell me imaginative stories of yesteryear, brilliant sagas of pirates commandeering ships and plundering for treasure or sheriffs who would dash in to save the damsel in distress. His fantastic accounts always put me in the forefront as the heroine of the story, tickling my fancy and giving a young girl a thirst for telling a tall tale. The romance came later, after falling in love with stories from authors Kathryn Woodwiss, LaVryle Spencer and Sandra Brown. Presently, I’m writing short contemporary romances for Silhouette Desire and an occasional western historical for Harlequin. I’ve written 28 books to date and consider myself fortunate to LOVE what I do. I’ve been honored with the 2006 Readers Choice Award, the 2007 Cataromance Reviewer’s Choice Award and the 2008 and 2009 Booksellers Best Award. I’m an active member of Romance Writers Of America and belong to the Orange County Chapter and the Los Angeles Chapter of RWA where I volunteer my time as the Published Authors Liaison. I married my high school sweetheart, Don and we have two grown children and two persnickety cats. When not writing, you can find me on sunny California beaches, bowling with my team, sipping a delicious Cappuccino or going on a “date” night of dinner and a movie with my hero husband.

harlene's fun Facts

I love chocolate of any kind. My license plate once read: Hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt. I bowl once a week on a ladies bowling league. My bowling average is 141. My husband is the love of my life and my inspiration. My cat Skittles, is known to family and friends as the Devil Cat. She’s our “watchcat” and will strike at anyone who isn’t ME. Well, she loves my husband and daughter too, but that’s about it. I can’t blow a bubblegum bubble. For the past 25 years I’ve taught childbirth education classes at a local hospital part-time and keep in contact with many of my “students”. It’s fun to see their babies grow. I’ve known four of my best friends since grammar school and see them regularly. I’ve been watching Days of Our Lives for twenty-five years. Needless to say I’m an avid fan and take a writing break each day to enjoy the show. I love country music and go to as many concerts as I can. My favorite? You should know I’ve seen Tim McGraw in concert 7 times. And I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. (But you sorta figured that out, didn’t you?)
